Bushido: The Seven Virtues

In Japanese tradition, Bushido (武士道), is a term which translates "way of the warrior".
Many samurai devoted their lives to bushido, a strict code that demanded loyalty
and honor to the death.
 

There are seven virtues associated with Bushido:
義 - Gi - Righteousness/Justice
勇 - Yu - Courage
仁 - Jin - Mercy
礼 - Rei - Respect
誠 - Makoto - Honesty
名誉 - Meiyo - Honor
尽忠 - Chugi - Loyalty/Duty

Others that are sometimes added to these:
孝 - kō - Filial piety
智 - chi - Wisdom
悌 - tei - Care for the aged
